Do you quote on-site, or is the next-day email still the norm in your trade?

I keep seeing solo trades lose jobs for no reason other than being a day slow on the estimate. Got curious how people here handle it — do you quote on the spot, or go home and email it the next morning? (I ended up building a small tool around this and can drop a link if anyone wants it.)
