I got asked to teach an instrument I barely know how to play
Hi guys. My thoughts are all over the place so if this seems a little scatterbrained I apologize.
So, I am fresh out of grad school. I was a flute performance major for both my undergrad and grad programs, and got lucky enough to land an interview at an incredible residential facility that uses the Arts as therapeutic tools to help people with long term disabilities find employment in the arts fields. I would be a music instructor, and honestly this is my DREAM JOB...a long time ago, music saved my life and now I have a chance to help countless others through my craft.
The first interview was absolutely stellar, they seemed to dig my responses and I got invited to the second round. We got times confirmed and then a couple hours ago I was sent the itinerary for the 2nd round. My heart sank to my toes. I am being asked to do a one on one bass lesson and a one on on drum lesson that would get observed. I have no fucking earthly clue what to do. I have some experience with both; I have played acoustic and electric guitars off and on my entire life. My first instrument was guitar, and in highschool I marched bass drum so it's not like I have ZERO experience, I just don't think Ive got the experience required to properly teach those two instruments.
I'm at a loss. It is Monday at the time of me posting this and my interview will be this Friday. What should I do?
