Looking for the right dual sport
Hey guys, I’m looking to buy a dual sport bike for my camping adventures. I want to get something reliable that if it breaks down on me I can wrench it in the bush and not be worried about getting it Uo and running again. I’m looking for something that sits higher like a drz 400 as I’m 6’2 and have long legs. But the drz I heard just doesn’t cut it on highway driving. I’m thinking I’ll do 70/30 highway to trail riding. Getting to the campsites from Toronto will take a lot of highway riding so I want to make sure I’m capable on the 401 but also able to hit back roads and logging trails. Nothing too serious like single track or hitting dirt jumps but I want something a little more capable than a klr650 off-road. I’m not the biggest fan of the klr although I heard its reliability is amazing. I was thinking a dr650. My budget is around $5000 CAD. Anyone have some good suggestions? I saw a 1992 bmw gs1000 Paris Dakar edition. Very clean and has 100 000km on it. Selling for $4000 and it looks mint. Anyone have any reviews on this bike in terms of reliability and if it’s worth $4000 that used? Also looking for other recommendations. I was thinking klx 350 as well maybe.
