What's the part of turboprop ownership nobody warned you about?

Everyone talks about how great it is. The speed, the reliability, the PT6 "just runs forever" mythology. And honestly? A lot of it's true.

But there's always that thing nobody mentions until you're already in it.

What's actually grinding on you?

  • Maintenance costs / getting a surprise AOG'd at the worst possible time
  • Insurance — finding it, affording it, and the annual renewal anxiety
  • Hangar fees / can't even find a hangar
  • Tracking down a shop that actually knows your specific engine variant
  • Avionics — always something that needs updating
  • Resale uncertainty — what's this thing actually worth?

I'm genuinely curious which one hits hardest. My hunch is hangar availability is quietly becoming the answer for more people than it used to be, but maybe I'm wrong.
