Like subnautica but not scary *potential spoilers if you’ve not played or seen the first game by now*

so got into subnautica and I’m still loving it, I’ve not finished it but I’m hoping to look for a slightly different experience. I’ll tell you all the things I love about subnautica and the things I don’t(for my personal experience not that any of these things are bad) and then hopefully you all could help me out in finding my next game? Also if there is no game that matches what I want I’m sorry.

Loves:

• exploration of an open world the complete freedom
• visuals absolutely love the bioluminescence of the world and plants and animals
• the creatures, so cool and otherworldly
• first person (not a must but preferred for immersion)
• crafting it’s good fun and you have to work your way up to cool things
• base building I like that it has options of rooms you can build that look pretty by just giving it the materials as I want pretty but I’m inpatient in certain ways.
• no people is really nice I wanna explore not talk but if it’s got interesting lore then I’ll give a bit
• variety of biomes and secrets that can just be found randomly like the alien tech was really cool
• gameplay modes like I‘m playing it in the no hunger or thirst mode and it’s much more fun for me
• the general material gathering experience is good fun
• the “quests” that are really just places to put markers and get loads of resources

don’t loves(again personal to me im not saying they’re bad):

• it’s scary the forced day night cycle makes things scary and I have the volume off because I don’t like the creature sounds and the scary monsters that kill you absolutely send me I get so anxious playing this game
• the things trying to kill you is scary
• that time sensitive quest that I looked up and people were like it’s so important to the story. I wasn’t ready for it I forgot to save before I accidentally clicked on it and I’d already save scummed before and had to redo a bunch of stuff. I wanna be able to take my time

in general I want it to be low stakes cool stuff to see no horror or jump scares and really really pretty with visuals like subnautica I will be open to a game if you say that in creative mode of the game you can have all things I want but I don’t want to have to complete the story/survival mode first like I just wanna be able to hop into either you know?

also very kindly if you’re gonna say [insert game here] with mods then that’s not for me I have played Minecraft and I did enjoy it but I’m now just obsessed with the visuals of subnautica I also am going to play below zero and 2 at some point so no need to add those.
