LGBTQ Friendliness Currently
Hey yall,
My fiance and I will be in Nashville this coming weekend for my mom’s 60th birthday. My fiance is trans (mtf) and we are an obviously gay couple (i’m femme presenting non-binary). We have been to Nashville before and had a lovely time! We really enjoyed East Nashville and I even got up on stage at the Lipstick Lounge and drunkenly sang some tunes. Love your city!
All that being said, I’m nervous. I’ve been keeping an eye on Tennessee laws and political vibe since we started planning this trip and things look scary for LGBTQ folks in TN right now (sending lots of love to my queer siblings). I know Nashville is pretty progressive but I’m trying to get an idea of what things feel like on the ground there right now. We will mostly be downtown but also probably West Nashville too because our AirBnb is there. Are there areas we should avoid? Are there areas that we should stick to? I’m not even looking for gay specific experiences just want to be able to enjoy our time and not worry about being hate crimed or my fiance being arrested for using a bathroom. Would love to hear from other queer people about how it feels for them in Nashville right now.
Also, we had thought about going to one of the pools that offer a day pass. Any recs that would be safer for us?
Thanks for any input or advice!
