Calprotectin 8000 but feel ok
Hello one and all,
Just had an urgent call with gastro as my stool test revealed a calprotectin of 8000. When I was diagnosed last year with ulcerative proctitis, it was only 1300. A month ago, stool tests revealed an infection and it was still only 800. I also had a uti and had antibiotics for this,
Consultant was not worried about the 8000 reading as I have less blood. However I still struggle with constipation, a lot of smelly mucas, urgency but no pain, I sometimes have accidents. They think my inflammation has gone down and this is just the result of a sluggish bowel. I'm only on mesalazine and I don't feel back to 'normal' but maybe this is as good as it's going to get...
Is it possible the 8000 is a false reading or is it possible to have severe inflammation and feel ok?! It's all located in one 12cm patch at the end of my colon.
Thanks
