Backrooms (2026) is the true analog horror masterpiece we needed and a cinematic love letter to modern day analog horror.

Discussion

So I watched the Backrooms recently on D-Box (which had moving seats, meaning the seats literally moved with the camera making it a whole lot more immersive and terrifying) and I think this movie is the perfect Analog Horror movie.

To correct myself, I don't think it's the perfect "Found Footage" movie (where analog horror got it's inspiration from) as those titles deserve to go to films like the Blair Witch Project, Lake Mungo, or REC, it's instead a perfect and cinematic translation of modern day analog horror/liminal spaces.

I think the film pays homage to a lot of analog horror tropes perfectly like horrifying duplicates of humans, a terrifying tall entity, creepy spaces and clever jumpscares, and even outright playing a song by The Caretaker from "Everywhere at the End of Time", what did you guys think of the film?
