Your advice on a no show

Clients (stories/help/etc)

Been lurking here awhile enjoying this sub. And now can use some help, so I'm asking for advice from those of you in the business. My close friend hired a company to do some work, fixing wall / adding drywall, and fixing some rotted support beams. Drywall is done last Thursday, And he said he would be back Friday. He typically has been working just in the morning and leaves around noon. On Friday he was a no-show. Friend thinks, ok, it's Friday, maybe the guys is just taking a day off or had a problem come up. On Sunday evening, there is another text that he will be there Monday at 9 am. Today is Monday and he's another no-show, with no contact from him. Friend does Not want to be pushy, but is concerned, as am I, that the guy is never going to come back. From your point of view, what is a way to handle this to try to determine if maybe they are just working on larger jobs and will eventually come back and finish this one up when they can, or if they are just not going to return? How can my friend proceed professionally without irritating the guy, because the work does need to get done. And if he never comes back, what are your suggestions for recourse? Thanks, appreciate it.
