Proposing to my girl

I already bought the ring and I'm planning to propose to my girlfriend soon, we've been together for 3 years now and I know she's the person I want to spend my life with, so it finally feels like the right time. To be completely honest, it took me a while to fully understand and accept that this is who I am and what I want. Realizing that my future is with her not someone else was a huge moment for me, which makes this proposal feel even bigger.

She's the responsible one in our relationship, while I'm the girl who doesn't even wear jewelry and has absolutely no idea how any of this works. The ring is currently hidden away and now I'm wondering if I should get it insured before I propose just to be safe. For those who insured your ring before proposing, who did you go with and who would you avoid? I'd love to hear any advice or things you wish you'd known beforehand.
