Best wine gift for a dinner host?
My brother in law's wife invited us over for dinner next weekend and I'm already spiraling about what wine to bring. She's Italian and apparently makes an incredible chicken breast and Pasta Alfredo which is what she's serving. The problem is that I know essentially nothing about wine. I drink it occasionally but if someone asked me to pick a bottle with any confidence, I'd completely blank and just grab whatever has the prettiest label.
I don't want to show up empty handed because that feels weird but I also don't want to bring something that's completely wrong for the meal and immediately reveal that I have no idea what I'm doing. Someone please help me not embarrass myself.
