A few months ago I bought an old Scott 29er MTB because I couldn't afford the road bike I really wanted (something like a modern Scott Addict or Canyon Aeroad).

Instead of buying a new bike, I decided to start a project that I call MONSTERBIKE.

First pic (current bike) and second pic (what I want to create)

Current bike:

Old Scott 29" hardtail MTB

Aluminum frame

29" wheels

V-brakes

Planned upgrades:

50T chainring (possibly 52T later)(I like heavy gear ratio's)

Slick road tires

Lighter cockpit

Simpler drivetrain

More aggressive riding position

Focus on speed and efficiency on pavement

Also a purple metallic design with details coloured black(like logo or words)

My goal is to create a fast urban/road-oriented bike while keeping the MTB frame.

The problem is that finishing the project will cost me around €400 more.

Recently I found a Tsunami SNM100 track bike/fixie for about €520, and now I'm wondering if it makes more sense to stop the MONSTERBIKE project and buy the Tsunami instead.

What would you do?

Continue building the MONSTERBIKE because it's unique and already started?

Buy the Tsunami because it will be faster, lighter, and closer to a real track bike?

I'm mainly interested in speed on the road, but I also like the idea of building something unique myself.

Any advice is appreciated!

My MONSTERBIKE Project – should I Continue or Should I Buy a Track Bike?
