I'm sick on the day of the state exam 🫠 and their cancellation policy is basura

Rant/Vent

Hi folks,

After my cohort ran into issues with our initial applications for a few days (the program coordinator signed off with the wrong date), we were all hyped to take our exam today. I went to a high school graduation on Thursday and started to feel bad over the weekend. I did all the things you do when you're sick: lots of rest, fluids, and hearty foods. I thought my voice would be back today.

Boy, was I wrong. I sound worse than anything and in California at the testing facility they will not allow you in if you're ill. I get that completely. What I *don't* get is their cancellation policy.

For starters, you have to cancel 96 hours before your exam in order to get exam credit. That's kind of wild to me! What if you suddenly got sick after the 96 hour mark? Like I did?

Secondly, they do not accept any type of doctor's notes. I called the facility and confirmed. You have to pay the full exam fee plus an extra $25 for rescheduling.

This seems....unreasonable.

All they want is our money.

I'm extremely frustrated with this whole thing.
