I think that AI was among the last nails in the coffin of our last myths and this may explain a lot in our current situation.

First, let's debunk something. When you say you like the soul of something, what do you truly refer to ?

Because, said soul is almost impossible to distinguish when you put art of different origin. With time, it will be more and more complicated to tell what can be generated in minutes by AI and what took hours of efforts with an human hand.

Although, I could also argue that hours can be spent on AI art.

Yet to be extremely honest, what I think that what is refered as soul here is simply the perceived effort behind the work done and this tell a lot about the situation.

As a second point, for a long time, the myth of Hard work as a way to success was sold. It did function a little during a certain period of time on certain place. It was the myth of motivation for a lot of us. Work hard, obtain everything you want.

But Reality is much more complex and unforgiving.

With time, people felt more and more screwed over as the social elevators started to dysfunction. Slowly, more and more felt resigned and pissed. Because, our own systems started to treat people as disposables.

Capitalism started to broke.

And timed passed until AI arrived and broke the last element of certainty. The fact that our own work made us absolutely impossible to replace and that was our own last levers with democracy for a part of us.

And that is the narrative fed to us.

As a third point, I would say it's ironic that some billionnaires were the first to launch the AI scare in order to blow up their benefits.

Because, it show how much of their own fears are projected here. How much they can be replaced.

Indeed, AI is more suited for reflexion tasks, Art and start to treat more and more complex tasks.

Does this replace fully the manual worker ? Not entirely for now.

However, the decisionary design and management posts are more and more concerned by that.

Thirdly, it's kinda funny it's always repeated to people how much they're powerless. Because, if it were truly the case, they wouldn't need it to hammer it so much.

Because, and I'd like to finish on a bit of hope, when myths fall, we always bring new ones. And as said the Red Queen, everyone is running to stay in the same place.

I think that AI is a technology with its own good sides and bad ones. But the true definer here is and has always been human nature. It is the root of all decisions and the true target to aim to.

So, let's not get fooled by smokes and mirror here and ask ourselves what can be build, because if we don’t build our own futures and lifepaths, we'll only be the tools of others. And this is what makes us humans.

Please, stay civil in the comments.

Have a good reading session and a good day.
