Advice based on dating apps (19M)

Hello!

Before starting off please don’t come after me, this is a genuine question and I’m not trying to flex if it is a flex. I want some help to hopefully fix previous issues with self esteem I’ve had.

So I had a rough puberty. I had a lot of acne, didn’t have or even thought about getting with girls, very skinny.
My only asset back then was being tall, which I’m aware is a big role, but overall I never was appealing to girls.

I finally got on Accutane eventually and now my acne is gone, and the later years of my puberty were generous to me I believe.

I decided I want to start dating and putting myself out there, but I still view myself as that kid before.

Here’s the part where I struggle, cause I don’t know exactly where I stand in terms of looks.
I go out and I see girls make eye contact, but they never approach me.
My friends often have it happen to them, so I feel like I’m still stuck in the past.
This also scares me from approaching them.

However recently I went on a solo trip to China, and decided to install bumble for fun ( meeting people and no pressure from people at home ).

It’s my first time using a dating app, and I figured I might as well.
To my surprise it was quite successful, getting 100 likes in a day.

My issue is that this is of course Asia, and I heard about the whole thing with being white. I’m glad of the success here on dating apps, but I’m not sure how that will translate back home in the west.

Is there that much of a difference in beauty features between the continents? Should I take this dating app success as a sign that I should maybe try approaching more people back home?

Thank you very much for your help! Once again I just want your opinion, I’m sure other people have grown up unattractive and had their later years bless them.
