Shedding -What’s Normal?

Our 1-year-old female started shedding heavily a few months ago, but it seemed pretty normal at first. About a month ago, she spent a couple of days at a boarding/daycare facility and came home shedding an incredible amount—tons of loose hair and large tufts daily.

Around the same time, we noticed irritated spots on her paw and lip. Our vet felt they were consistent with allergies (environmental or possibly related to treats she may have received while boarded). She was also bathed before coming home. We completed a course of antibiotics as a precaution, and the spots have since cleared up.

However, the excessive shedding has continued. She has no bald spots, and we brush her regularly, but the amount of hair and tufts coming out every day seems excessive even for a breed known to shed. Has anyone experienced something similar after boarding, allergies, or a bath? How long did it last?

We aren’t clueless to food allergies either, but the vet did not recommend going down that rabbit hole at this juncture. Should we? She eats a salmon/rice food, but of course it has chicken.
