Devil Spire Falls Review after 26h (just bought it - it's brilliant!!!)

discussion

So I got into this game and instantly fell in love. As many others said, the game scratches so many itches even in the early access state already and the frequent updates just make it better. The shop description is really on point for this one! Only had one single crash ever (it was after some time inside a spire).

Some points from my side after playing::

  1. Enemies/Skilling needs some balance in the future
The skill perks are very good but you can get them sooo fast after you got the hang of the game. My first run was on normal difficulty starting on 10 intelligence and actively choosing to increase intelligence for faster skillups, I demolished everything with fists only as a fairy. In my second run I picked human on realistic difficulty and lowered intelligence down to the minimum of 2 at the start, never increasing it and still blazed through skill levels. Balancing is always a tough challenge for devs but the core of the game is already extremely good so I'm sure that won't be a problem for the full release!

  2. Passive HP/MP regeneration (maybe just personal opinion)
I would like to have a way to get passive regen - especially for MP - so magic can be used more easily since I struggle to refill all my MP after I ran out. This could go for enemies as well, I like that they too can run out of MP so passive regen would balance it out for all sides. If I just haven't found out about such a feature yet, then that's on me - just sharing my current experience and ideas!

  3. Weapon durability loss after parrying
I observed that weapons lose a good amount of durability after each parry, if that is intended because shields exist then I understand ofc but even then it feels a bit too much. (Example: I lost around 40-50 durability per parry on a weapon that only has 2000 durability in total.)

  4. Some perks from rings don't seem to work as of now
    Examples:
    Cannibalism
    Picking locks with "fingernails"
Sell for more / Buy for less (stated 50% values on the rings, couldn't figure out if it made a difference because my skill perks still said 25% on each from the regular skill)

  5. [Idea] Population in villages etc.
I really like that you can "raze" everything, but sometimes some NPCS simply die to monsters or other "accidents", maybe there could be random events that new NPCS can settle in villages you frequently visit when houses become abandoned, would make the game feel even more alive and add something for continued play in the same world

That's it for now, I still feel very new to the game despite the good chunk of hours I put into it, so I apologize in advance if any of my points are already resolved!

And if the dev sees this - keep up the AMAZING work and I'm thrilled to see where the game goes!
