I make $1400 per video just delivering short form clips from podcast footage and my entire tooling costs $100 a month
I want to preface this by saying this is not a get rich quick thing, it took me a while to figure out the pricing and the workflow but once I did it became one of the most straightforward income streams I have
So what I actually do is pretty simple, podcast hosts and content creators record long form content, interviews, solo episodes, panels, whatever, and they have absolutely no time or skill to turn that into short form clips for reels tiktok and shorts, that is where I come in, I take their raw footage and deliver 4 to 5 highly produced hooky clips per video, the kind that stop someone mid scroll and actually make them want to find the full episode
I charge $1400 per video delivered
The whole operation runs on about $100 a month in tooling
The main tool in my stack is montage which handles the clip finding side of things, I upload the footage, write a brief telling it what the show is about and what kind of moments I am looking for, it comes back with 8 to 10 scored candidates that actually match what I asked for, I edit straight from the transcript by deleting words and the video cuts itself, captions are branded to each client, vertical reframing is automatic, then I export either an mp4 ready to post or an xml file into Premiere where I do the finishing work, color grade, sound, transitions, the stuff that makes it feel polished
The whole process per video takes me about 2 to 3 hours max
Before I found this workflow I was spending 6 to 8 hours per video doing everything manually, rewatching footage, finding moments, editing in premiere from scratch, the math on the rate barely worked, now the margin is genuinely good and I can take on multiple videos a week without burning out
The pitch to clients is also straightforward, most podcast hosts know they should be posting clips, almost none of them have time to do it, and the ones who try to do it themselves usually give up after a few weeks because the process is too slow, walking in with a clean workflow and a track record of hooky clips that actually perform closes the conversation pretty quickly
If you are already doing any kind of video or podcast editing this is honestly one of the easier service additions you can make.....
