PMP Passed AT/AT/AT
Just wanted to thank this wonderful community for sharing their thoughts and experiences as guidance for other takers like me. I might not have been able to pass the exam without this community. I just wanted to share my experience as well, and I hope it can help someone in the future.
- I focused only on 2 primary study materials: Study Hall and 3rd Rock PMP Exam Prep Notes. I did check AR's Mindset videos and the 200 Questions video, but I didn't finish them.
- I got Study Hall Plus to access the 5 mock exams right after getting the certificate from AR. My goal was simple: to assess why I knew certain answers and why I didn't know others.
Note: I work in the construction industry and took a Construction Management course about 8 years ago.
- After each mock exam, I reviewed my mistakes and all the Medium and Low Confidence answers to clear my doubts and reinforce my learning. I created a Word file containing my analysis.
- I continued this process until I completed all 5 mock exams. My first results were as follows:
- After the 5th mock exam, I got the 3rd Rock PMP Exam Prep Notes to recheck my notes and align everything I might have missed.
- I retook all the exams for one purpose: to check whether my knowledge and judgment had improved. It did. My second results were 87, 73, 78, 68, and 67 (expert included).
Some people might say that the improvement was due to familiarity with the questions. However, I took the retakes with a good interval between them, around 2 to 3 weeks apart for the same exam.
- I was only able to tell that I was ready for the exam not when I was getting the right answers, but when I could no longer get most of the questions wrong.
- I took the mock exams as if I were simulating the real exam. On my first try, I was already exhausted at around 30% of the test. After 10 simulations, I could finish the exam without much fatigue. I think that matters a lot.
- I didn't review anymore during the last 2 days before the exam. I believe rest is better than cramming new information. I work in a highly stressful environment. I took the exam on a Monday to ensure that no work-related issues would stress me out on Sunday. I even archived my work apps just so I wouldn't be distracted.
- Keep your purpose for taking the exam. Your "why."
I took the exam because it's a gateway to better opportunities, and it serves as proof of my work experience. People might say that this is just a certification, but it means a lot to me. On the other hand, I definitely know how I can sell this to companies. Hihi.
Once again, thank you for sharing your knowledge, and I hope that I am able to share something valuable with others who will be taking the exam in the future. ❤️
