I created this tiny pond in September 2024, after the beams were replaced in our raised bed.

The hope was to lure back the frog/toad that we discovered living in the ferns growing out of the rotting beams, whose home we callously destroyed.

Today this hope has come to fruition, as we've been graced with this little frog visitor!

The pond has been the best thing I've done for my garden. We get tonnes of wildlife using it, birds of all kinds, squirrels, rats and this year the bug life has visibly exploded. Now a frog!!

The birds love bathing in it and everything loves drinking from it, especially on hot summer days.

It's a 50cm bucket, with various bricks used to create levels, edge plants and oxygenating plants.

Most of the plants I originally planted were suffocated by the leaf fall the first winter, so I had to replant it. This year I was much better at fishing them out, and the ones I missed were quickly devoured by the developing bug life.

It's not in an ideal location, as we have so many trees, but it takes up less than 2ft and creates a wildlife haven.

Please enjoy the evolution of my tiny pond:
