Most of us think of a carpet as just something that covers the floor. But the moment you step into a well-designed room, you realize - the rug isn’t just beneath your feet, it’s the soul of the whole interior. It ties the colors together, anchors the furniture, and gives the entire room its meaning.

Now imagine placing a handknotted rug in that room.

The weight of it changes everything - not just visually, but in what it represents. A handknotted carpet is not a product. It is art. It is tradition. It is culture passed down quietly, generation after generation, through skilled hands that most people never get to see.

Before a single knot is tied, there is woolcarded, spinning , and color dyed by hand. Then comes the design, carefully translated from different source of inspiration and sometimes experiences from real life onto the loom. Then the weaving - sometimes months, sometimes years depending upon the design, quality and size. And finally, the finishing, where the rug is washed, stretched, and trimmed to reveal what was always hidden inside it.

Every single step matters. Miss one, rush one, or get one wrong- and the entire rug suffers. That’s what makes this craft so humbling. It demands precision, patience, coordination, and an almost quiet kind of trust - trust between the designer, the dyer, the weaver, and the finisher.

It is, in the truest sense, a team effort across generations.

So the next time you walk across a handknotted rug, pause for a moment. Hundreds of hands made that possible.
