Please Be Serious: An Annoyance
I'm just venting. I already made my decision, so I don't need any advice.
A client whose dog snapped at me multiple times during the meet and greet wanted to know if I was still willing to do a week-long sit over the July 4th holiday. A longer conversation revealed that he's not properly socialized, has reacted to repair people in the home the same way he reacted toward me, and he's never been left overnight in the care of a pet sitter before. He appeared to be guarding the client.
I told the client I wanted to come back a few times to see if the dog would tolerate my presence in the home and on walks without her being present. I needed to gauge the reactivity a bit more and see if I could safely handle him, but no guarantees. If he can't be handled, that's it. The client agreed.
The day before the first scheduled walk, the client messaged to ask if my walking rates -- which are clearly displayed on Rover -- are "set in stone" because they're more expensive than she expected. If she's complaining about the price of the walks, she's going to spontaneously combust when she sees my rate for overnight stays.
I'm not booking any services with her at all. I'm not offering my services at a discount for someone whose dog is probably unsafe to work with.
