Finished XI after 6 years

This game has been my white whale for a long time. I first got it for my birthday whenever the Switch version came out (my first and only Dragon Quest game, not counting demos), and played a good chunk of it, but stopped at the Mordegon final boss fight, which I then came back and beat probably a month or two later. Since then, I have been on and off while playing Act 3, my longest hiatus being around two years in between (not because I wasn’t interested in finishing, but because I got caught up with other games and life). However, the recent announcement of Dragon Quest XII convinced me it was time to finally finish this game and give it the sendoff it deserves. From the time I began, I was at the end of middle school, and now I’m going into my second year of college, so it’s definitely been a long road, but today, I beat Act 3’s final boss, Calasmos, and watched the credits roll (was not expecting that story reveal at the end, so that was pretty cool). All in all, I can finally safely say this is one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played, and it’s also one of the games that spent the longest time in my backlog, but I’m glad I can also say that I’ve finished it. Not sure if I’ll do another playthrough of XI one day, because my first one took more than half a decade, but I wouldn’t be opposed to revisiting this game eventually. This has been a long time coming, and now I’m fully ready to play Dragon Quest 12 when it comes out.
