Does getting villagers unstuck affect them?

Hello yall, i was playing minecraft today and on my new world (6 in game days) i noticed a village near my house. I went over to it and saw three villagers stuck inside a little hole, I dug out a little staircase for them and then the green sparkles lit up around them. I tried looking this up for thirty minutes but couldn't find anything but, is this something coded into the game? I thought it was a neat detail but i had never heard of this doing anything to villager relations. (For reference i am on the latest snapshot on java)
