Backstory:

During Phase 1 of TBC, rules were stated for my guild and they were never consistently followed. This created some friction heading into Phase 2 as to how loot would be handled.

Going into Phase 2, a loot council was elected by the team. We were also asked to fill out a list on thatsmybis but the instructions were not communicated clearly and some folks filled it out incorrectly leading to more friction and confusion as we started clearing SSC. Example: the order was told it **wasn't** going to be used and then the order **was** used and we were told to put tier pieces at the bottom and then when they dropped, the loot master said that this person has it at the bottom so they got passed up for someone who put it at the top.

We were also told that attunements must be completed before Phase 2 launched as we were not going back to do them yet we ended up doing them for a couple of weeks to help folks catch up. Not a huge deal here but just inconsistency on expectations lead to more friction.

Breaking Point:

Finally the raid lead posted a new set of rules in discord and told us multiple times they would not change for the remainder of the phase. A low/high prio list was posted on the first night of the new system right before we pulled Hydross and everyone was again scrambling trying to find out why they were low prio.

After SSC and before TK the following night, several members who were low prio worked on fixing their gear rushing to complete it before the next raid to hopefully get on the high prio list.

On the night of the next raid, the raid leader started invites and announced that a link for SR would be posted as we needed pugs to fill our raid for this one night. This was advised 15 minutes before raid start time. We needed 2 pugs to fill the 25 man as a few members were out for vacation/IRL stuff that night.

Drama (screenshots):

One of the loot council members asked the raid leader why we were using SR after the raid leader stated multiple times that rules would not be changing. The raid leader stated that this was due to the 2 pugs joining us tonight. The loot council member stated that the constant changing of rules is annoying everyone and it makes things more complicated and frustrating. The raid leader told the loot council member to "get fucked" and that's when we started losing some members of the team. The loot council member left first and posted these screenshots of the conversation in the guild discord and simply said "for folks asking why I left" and made no further call to action. We lost 4 more members of the team and ended up having to pug a total of 6 people to clear TK that night (we only needed 2 before this).

We permanently lost 5 (4 from the night and 1 who was out on vacation) members that night due to inconsistency in loot rules and aggressive behavior by the raid lead to this loot council member.

Advice Needed:
I've been sitting on this and thinking about it all weekend. Was the raid leader too aggressive? Maybe pugs would have joined if we just used the regular loot system of MS>OS+1 and didn't use SR for that night. I've joined and ran multiple runs without SR perfectly fine. I also think if this had been communicated hours beforehand as we knew folks would be missing, it wouldn't have been such a shock to everyone.
