Hi all,

Just discovered this sub so wanted to repost a question I previously asked in r/piercing to see if I could get some more opinions on my nostril piercing. TL;DR at the bottom’

My worry is that despite seemingly healing well, my nostril piercing appears to be at more steep angle than I would assume to be optimal. It looks well located from the outside but angles too far forward within the nostril, with the flats of the stud not sitting flat against the nostril as is shown in the pictures.

I am concerned that when fully healed and ready for a ring the angle of the piercing will cause the ring to appear crooked and look unsightly. As such I have wondered if I am going to need to remove it and have it re-pierced. Although I would obviously consult a piercer first and have them remove it for me if removal was the right move, I wanted to ask here if anyone (piercer or piercee!) has been in a similar scenario and what their advice would be.

Worth noting is that there is a slight piercing bump that has formed and I am wondering whether this could be responsible for making the piercing look more crooked than it actually is, and if this is the case whether this could be responsible for causing the piercing to heal at the steeper angle.

Since I’ve started worrying I have been habitually looking up my nostril most times I’m stood in front of a mirror. Sometimes I look at it and don’t think it looks that bad and other times I worry that taking it out might be inevitable. Whether it sometimes sits differently or sometimes I’m overly paranoid I don’t know but obviously I’d like to leave it in if there is a good chance it will look good with a ring in the future.

Thankfully healing has been pretty smooth, and other than catching it once about a week in which caused it to bleed, it’s been mostly fine bar the occasional bump or light catch every now and again. I’m pretty sure the stud is titanium and I’m cleaning it twice a day with an appropriate piercing spray (SteriPierce). By the time of this repost, the piercing is about 8-9 weeks old and still wearing the original jewellery.

Thanks for reading, any and all thoughts and opinions are very much appreciated!

TL;DR: 2 month old nostril piercing appears crooked and pierced at a steep angle, is it too crooked to look okay when switched to a ring? Would you remove and re-pierce if it was you?

Thank you!
