In Canada, Mb Fired the day i returned from medical leave

Ive been calling around for a week trying to get a hold of a lawyer, with no response. I have until the end of the day tomorrow or the severance they offered is off the table.

Looking for some employment law advice in Canada.

I worked for a company for about 8 months after leaving a job I had been at for 10 years. I was hired as an Inside Sales Representative, but at some point my role was changed to a BDR position without any new agreement being signed.

A month after being told the BDR role was being eliminated, I went on medical leave. While I was on leave, the company hired new salespeople and also had agents making the same types of calls I had been making. When I returned from leave with medical clearance, I was terminated on my first day back and told it was due to restructuring.

I was offered 3 weeks' severance in exchange for signing a release. The deadline to sign is tomorrow.

Some additional details:

- No prior warnings or performance reviews.

- I was never told my performance was an issue.

- The company claims the role was eliminated, but there are still people performing very similar duties.

- During my leave, my medical information was discussed in email chains that included multiple company representatives.

- I have emails documenting much of this.

My questions are:

  1. Does this sound like a legitimate restructuring, or is it worth having an employment lawyer review?

  2. Is 3 weeks' severance reasonable for this situation?

  3. Is it common to ask for a deadline extension before signing a release?

  4. If I don't sign by the deadline, do I risk losing only the enhanced severance offer, or could I also lose any minimum entitlements?

I know nobody can give specific legal advice over Reddit, but I'd appreciate any general thoughts before I decide what to do.

Thanks.
