Help Me Decide: Amana vs American Standard
I currently have a 16 seer carrier infinity two stage 410a system with a failed second stage in the compressor. I can’t seem to find someone to provide a reasonable quote for replacement ($8k and up) so I am looking to replace the whole system.
I have had a couple of vendors come out to quote a replacement. Two vendors indicating my ducting is insufficient and more ducting needs to be added so the system can take in sufficient air.
I have received two quotes that I am debating between.
Amana
AXV6SS3610 - Variable 16 seer
CHPEA3626B3
ARVT800603BN - Two stage variable speed furnace 60,000 BTU
ATST-CWE-BL-A1-I - Smart Thermostat
2 year labor and 10 year parts warranty. 99 year compressor warranty
$13,500
American Standard
5A7V8X36A - Variable 18 seer
5TXCB003AS
S8V2B060M4PCA - Two stage variable speed furnace 60,000 BTU
ALINK360A2VVU - Thermostat
5 year labor and 10 year parts warranty
$19,000
Both include install costs, costs to add a new 12” intake duct, installation for attic stairs, and an airflow analysis/dampers if needed. Install company is very reputable.
Are these prices competitive for DFW?
The Amana system pricing is very tempting, but I have not heard of them before. I’d love some input on what you would do in my situation.
