“Does anyone else feel the story is losing direction?”
Hello everyone:
!!<This is my first time posting here on Reddit, and also my first post in the *Hima Ten* category. I just read the scan of chapter 93 and… honestly, I feel both angry and deeply disappointed.
Seeing Himari cry was, without exaggeration, one of the saddest things I’ve seen in a long time. That scene really broke me. And what frustrates me even more is that it feels like it just gives Kanai more room to get closer to Iemori…
Before I continue, I want to apologize if I say something that might bother anyone. That’s not my intention at all. I just need to vent and hear your opinions.
I started reading *Hima Ten* because I saw a post from the publisher Ivrea (which releases it here in Spain), where they showed some panels from the first volume. It caught my attention immediately. I thought, “this manga has real potential to become something great.” But as the chapters went on… that hype slowly turned into disappointment. It’s a feeling that’s hard to explain, but very real.
I know some people will say: “it’s just fiction, don’t take it so seriously.” But for me, when you truly like a story, you get immersed in it. You feel what the characters feel—you laugh, you cry, you worry about them… and that’s what makes stories special. If it doesn’t make you feel anything, then what’s the point?
At the beginning, I liked Iemori. He was a protagonist I could relate to. But as the story progresses… I feel like he has fallen really low. The whole “I’ve always loved Kanai” thing was understandable at first, but now it just feels repetitive, tiring, and honestly frustrating. He’s the kind of character you want to support at first, but slowly stops deserving it.
And this is what bothers me the most: he has two incredible girls like Kanna and Himari… and still keeps clinging to Kanai. It’s frustrating. It’s exhausting to watch.
About Kanai… I wouldn’t say I completely hate her, but she definitely annoys me. She’s that kind of character who disappears for years, does nothing, shows no interest… and then suddenly, when other girls appear, she decides to say “I’ve liked him all along.” I get the trope, I really do… but it still makes my blood boil.
Now, Kanna and Himari are on a completely different level. Honestly, I feel like they’re too good for this manga.
Kanna: For me, and I’m sure for many others, she’s an amazing character. She could easily be the main heroine of her own manga. She has charisma, personality, and knows exactly what she wants. She’s straightforward with her feelings, and that makes her stand out. She’s a 1000/10 waifu, no exaggeration. On top of that, she even won over the protagonist’s family, which is a huge plus. And yet… I feel like she’s been wasted, often reduced to fanservice. And that really hurts.
Himari: To me, she’s the true heroine. Her emotional development has been beautiful to watch. You can really see how she has grown and how her feelings have developed naturally over time. She has real chemistry with the protagonist—it feels genuine. That’s why seeing her cry in chapter 93 was absolutely devastating. It made me feel anger, sadness, and helplessness all at once. Just like Kanna, she’s way too good for someone as indecisive as Iemori.
I could go on talking about how much I love Kanna and Himari, and how frustrating Iemori and Kanai are… but I don’t want to make this endlessly long.
In conclusion, it makes me sad to see what this manga has become. Especially because I know there’s a mangaka behind it who has put time and effort into creating it.
And before anyone says it: yes, I do support the series. I own the 4 volumes currently released in Spain.
But honestly… if the protagonist ends up with Kanai… it’s going to hurt so much that I might actually sell my volumes and move on.
I’ve read that the manga is having some sales issues in Japan. I’m not sure if it’s because of what I mentioned or other reasons, but I really hope the upcoming chapters manage to fix the direction of the story.
Finally, thank you so much for reading all of this. I just wanted to express how this chapter made me feel. I understand that others may have different opinions, and I fully respect that.
I’d really like to hear your thoughts.
Have a great day.
