Horrible few months - how to feel like me again?
The last few months have been tough. I had major surgery a few months ago, the results of which have been a bit less straightforward than expected, and I now have a diagnosed (took 15 years) lifelong condition/disease to manage at 29. Then, my best friend in the world, my grandma, died, and I was present for her last few days, which was very tough. I miss her terribly and our wider family is falling apart, so we don't have their support.
Last week I had an interview for a role which could have changed my life - I am living at home with mum and dad, working 15 hours a week and volunteering. This role would have allowed me to move to a new city, be in a managerial position, have the meaningful job I had dreamed of, I suppose. It is a very niche field, so the jobs come up barely every six months. I just had the call that I did not get the job.
I adore my family and am so lucky to have their support but I am about to turn 30 and can't help but feel very sad about the people I have lost, the more optimistic person I often used to be. For the record, I have OCD, ADHD and depression so am prone to catastrophising snd spiralling. Can anyone give me advice on how to get my spark back? I feel like I don't have the same energy and enjoyment for things any more, but I am getting back into exercising, going to the gym and trying to help myself.
