University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) – Honest Opinions from Students, Alumni, and Texas Lawyers?

School/Region Discussion

Hi everyone,
Considering University of Houston Law Center LL.M. program.
I’ve read rankings, employment reports, and information available on the website, but I’d love to hear candid perspectives from people who have firsthand experience with UHLC.
A few questions:
How would you describe the quality of the faculty? Are professors approachable and invested in student success?
How supportive is the administration and career services team, especially for international students?
What is the overall culture like? Collaborative or competitive?
How accessible are professors outside class for mentoring, networking, or career guidance?
How strong is UHLC’s reputation within Texas legal circles?
When employers in Houston, Dallas, Austin, or elsewhere in Texas see “University of Houston Law Center” on a résumé, what comes to mind?
For those practicing in Texas, how is UHLC viewed compared to schools such as SMU, Texas A&M, Baylor, and UT Austin?
Looking back, what is something you wish you had known before attending UHLC?
I’d especially appreciate responses from:
Current J.D. or LL.M. students
Alumni
Texas attorneys who have worked with UHLC graduates.
Employers or recruiters familiar with the Texas legal market.
Thank you in advance. I’m trying to understand the school’s real-world reputation, student experience, and support system beyond what rankings and brochures can tell me.
