B12 and Folate Deficiency Recovery – How Long Did It Take You?

Deficiency Symptoms

I’ve been diagnosed with both vitamin B12 and folate deficiency and have been supplementing. Some symptoms have improved, but recovery feels very inconsistent.
My symptoms include:
Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
Pins and needles/tingling sensations
Palpitations
Cold hands and feet (cold extremities)
Fatigue and low energy
Neuropathy-type symptoms

I’ve tried different forms of supplementation, including hydroxocobalamin, methylfolate, folinic acid, and benfotiamine.

What I find strange is that I seem to feel better on 1 mg methylfolate than on 7.5 mg methylfolate. When I take 1 mg, I notice improvement, but it’s still only around 40% of what I’d consider normal.

I also tried benfotiamine, but it seemed to make me feel worse. After taking it, I experienced increased anxiety, more palpitations, colder extremities, dizziness, and generally felt unwell. I’m not sure if it was related to the supplement itself or something else.

When I take methylfolate, I do notice improvement, but it feels like only about 40% of my symptoms improve. The palpitations and pins-and-needles sensations are still there, and some days I feel significantly worse than others even though I’m continuing treatment.

For people who recovered from B12 and/or folate deficiency:

How long did it take before you felt substantially better?

How long did neurological symptoms like tingling, neuropathy, and brain fog take to improve?

Did you still have “bad days” during recovery even while your levels were improving?

Did palpitations and cold extremities take longer to resolve than other symptoms?

Was your recovery gradual with ups and downs, or did you notice a sudden improvement at some point?
