CA: For 40k, please let us bring in our strategic reserve troops with different transport types!

Warhammer 40k

So based on the gameplay from yesterday, it seems that having a reserve of troops you can call into battles as reinforcements will play a part in gameplay in Total War 40k.

One thing I am desperately hoping we get to see is multiple options for how to deploy those troops. It would be incredibly disappointing if they just walked in from the edge of the map. For example, as the Imperial Guard, I should be able to choose if I want my reinforcing Guardsmen to be deployed via Chimera ground transport, Valkyrie Airlift, or even more exotic options like the Crassus or Taurox.

This could add whole new layers to both tactical gameplay and army building, especially if you have to recruit those transports separately. Like running a mass chaff Guardsman army who have to hoof it on foot, but then you keep 2-3 units of expensive Kasrkins along with pricey Valkyries to strategically deploy them to turn the tide of battle. Or if Steel Legion ever get added, I think it wouldn't be true to the faction unless they deploy with their fully mechanized forces riding in on Chimeras and other transports.

You could get even further in-depth with this system by allowing certain units to only fit in certain transports. For Space Marines, you're not going to be able to fit a Terminator into a Rhino for example. But if you invest in a land raider, suddenly you have a transport capable of deploying those heavy assets quickly to the frontline.
