Compulsive sniffling

I've been sniffling on and off for years now. My partner thinks it's allergies, but my nose isn't runny, and my breathing is fine if I make myself stop doing it. Idk, it could be allergies, but I've always suspected it's a mental thing. I learned yesterday that sniffling can be a common tic, and I remembered how I used to make myself burp, and struggled to stop because my throat didn't feel quite right.

That being said, there were years between the burping and the sniffling, and I can't think of any other potential tics I have. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is it possible to have some tics without meeting the criteria for TS?
