Wife let our doctor know that we're going on an international 2-week vacation, after I told them we didn't have money.

Our doctor is a private practice, and we pay additional annual fees to see her so we can get faster access to her. We went this route because my wife often has medical problems and I didn't want her to wait to see a doctor.

This year, finances have been doing worse than ever, so I decided we needed to cut some spending. I asked our doctor to take me off our plan and just leave my wife on, but our doctor graciously opted to keep both of us on for half the price. I thanked her profusely, let her know how much of a relief this was.

That was ~1 week ago. Today, my wife visits our doctor and lets slip that we have a 2-week international vacation planned.

She does not include the part where we are doing this because one of our family members is approaching 100 years of age and we think they might pass at any moment, nor does she include the part where the vast majority of the trip is being paid for by another family member (because I said we couldn't afford an international trip).

I know there's nothing that can be done at this point, and anything we say to our doctor will simply look like we're trying to cover up a sloppy lie, but I feel like I'm the one who looks like the liar. As per this subreddit, this is just venting. There's not much that can be done, and I just have to deal with the future awkwardness I feel when visiting the doctor.
