Genuine question on the Platner siuation as someone who hasn't followed the issue at all, pretty much

Political News/Discussion

So, I heard Destiny say on stream that he doesn't care if people criticize Platner at all in the primary, and Hasan even echoed that same sentiment and might have even said it verbatim. My question is, Is it not possible that a media campaign against him, specifically regarding his past scandals and whatnot (like his tattoo), could follow/haunt him in the general?

It seems like the reality is that he will be the nominee, so what does the criticism this late into the election accomplish besides amping the radar of those same attacks that will be used against him by Collins or whoever is his opponent.

I guess, when I look at the right and coalitions, even amongst younger movements like the groypers, but ESPECIALLY among the mainline MAGA movement, they will enthusiastically support whoever the fuck is on their side. They will ignore criticism and they won't even engage with smears in the media or even valid criticism because, in their eyes, it accomplishes nothing and only works to serve their opponents. Isn't one of Destiny's biggest gripes with the left/right media environment that Dems are forced to criticize, condemn, concede constantly while ppl on the right don't lift a finger to do anything of the sort? It seems to be working for them, no?

So, Platner is the nominee, that's a given at this point, regardless of whether or not this shit is over (FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND TO BE THE NUMBERS). Would it not be the smartest move to just back him in spite of the smears/media campaign? What are your guys' thoughts?

And If I've made a mistake in terms of the facts about the political realities or the names of ppl involved feel free to point them out.
