What are the best places to visit in Scotland besides just staying in Edinburgh?
I’m planning a trip to Scotland and realized almost every guide focuses heavily on Edinburgh, but I keep hearing the real magic is getting outside the city.
Right now I’m looking at places like the Highlands, Isle of Skye, Glencoe, Inverness, and maybe a couple smaller towns, but I’m struggling to figure out what’s actually worth the time if I only have around a week.
I’m into good scenery, places that feel different from each other, nice walks, local food, and spots that feel memorable instead of just checking tourist boxes.
If you’ve been to Scotland, what place surprised you the most or ended up being your favorite? Was there anywhere you thought would be overrated but turned out amazing?
