i absolutely love bar scenes and clubs but of course i’m still a bit young to actually participate outside of one off events such as live music. i’ve been searching for a bar back job for a few months now but most places either only hire 21+ or require some form of experience for the job. i had given up the search 2 months ago because of someone else and decided to focus on my other priorities like college. saturday night a family friend called and asked me if i could step in since his bar back cancelled on him last minute and i’ve never said YES faster in my life!! sunday was my first gig for a private event and i have soooo much to say!!!

working a part time job with someone i have such a strong connection to was an experience like no other. i learned quickly and gained experience in making actual drinks. we were so locked in no words were needed. i’d refill the ice before he even realized he was running out. i’d put straws in drinks the second he finished making them. i’d hand him whatever bottle he needed as soon as i heard the order. i’d take over when he needed to step away. it was so flawless. 

he’s an amazing person and is already putting me down for more gigs! it was such a lovely event and the guests were amazing as well. many found out it was my first gig so they’d ask me specifically to make their drinks to gain that experience. i can confidently say i can now pour many shots without over pouring or spilling, i can make martinis and use a shakes, and i can mix drinks. 

super excited for my future gigs and i wanted to share this big accomplishment with all of you lovelies especially this uniform cause i ate down and did my big one with this! 👏🏻🩷

maybe i’ll take up a full bartender gig one day but i’m enjoying bar back right now :)
