[Mid 20s, F] Where do I find a job or a path/passion that's right for me?
I am a lost mid 20s lady, looking for advice/guidance/a direction (or at the very least who I can ask irl to help me decide)
Currently have done:
- a bit of restaurant work (hostess, busser, worked in a fast food job)
- lots of retail (~6 years or so?)
- a few months of administrative assistance training
- a few classes for excel, quickbooks (didn't enjoy), law, pre reqs, etc. but none really stuck and I don't have a ton of funding or passion in this department
Things I enjoy:
- organizing
- being social
- seeing projects come to fruition (goals, hard content in games, working hard to make a new system for organizing or some such)
- set schedules or roughly close to one
- video games (I also work on a team with this, we clear hard content and stick to a schedule), learning Russian, hiking, cosplay, volleyball, etc.
Things I do not enjoy:
- early mornings
- medical fields (I'm very squeamish and will faint!)
- erratic schedules (fine for a while, but long term may be a struggle)
- hot, humid climates
- changing tasks hyper rapidly
Pros: I work great with set schedules! I'm a highly organized person and work great with others and on a team. I'm very easy to get along with and generally a very extroverted person. I have traveled a bit, I have many hobbies and interests and am generally a well rounded person. As mentioned earlier, I am great at organizing schedules, drafting plans, working with budgets, planning for the best and the worst, trip plans, etc.
Cons: I'm not a physically built person, I'm a twig like lady so a lot of physically demanding jobs are out the window (ex. A lot of trades) I do great in afternoon/evenings, but unfortunately I am a terrible person come early mornings (I've paid my early morning dues, I have tried) I don't have a lot of funding for university and school has always been a struggle for me, so I worry I'm just throwing what money I do have down the drain, especially if there's no passion to push me forward I don't live near a big city, I live in the suburbs and can't afford a hefty move I haven't been in charge of anyone. My highest role was as an administrative assistant, on a team, still under a manager. So I have little leadership experience
I've been told I should aim for project management or something of the sort, but I'm unsure If I would even be a great fit. When I was younger I wanted to be a myriad of things: Marnie Biologist, Model, Animator, Dentist, Lawyer, etc. but again, nothing stuck.
I don't have a major passion and I've thought on it for many years and yet nothing has come up as a way to make money at something I'm good at. I'm getting older and I'm still working dead end retail jobs, what do I do? Is there anyone that I could seek out in real life to let me try a day in the life of their job or counsel me on what I could become? What can I do to ensure my success in the future? Help a homie out :')
