Becoming your parents

Do you have this fear that you will do what your parents did to you, to your kids? I think we all generally don't think that will happen. However, what if we do it in a different way. Inadvertently in a way we don't recognize as trauma. I feel each generation comes with new problems we have to learn to correct. What if by the time I realize my parenting is/was problematic, my kids are already raised?
