Help with 2003 double cab Tacoma

I dream to have a first gen Tacoma, right now I have a family car 2018 Mazda 3. The truck here is a 2003 double cab v6, I don’t care to drop 16 year back to get my dream truck. But in users experience is this always results to a good idea? I mean supposedly the truck is in good condition and it doesn’t need any money to fix anything. Is this idea of getting this oldie a good idea? Please just whatever you guys experienced always help.
