Rina Kent book reading questions

Hi all. I'm starting the Rina-verse (reading cruel king right now) and I was reading through the reading order on her website and I'm a little confused. Do I read the duets at the same time or one and then the other? I feel dumb asking but she has many duet books and frankly I need to know. Thank you to anyone who helps me
