Candidate applications outside the US

Ever since we got the new security software added onto our ATS systems, I notice a large amount of Indian applicants applying from outside of the US from India. However, on their application they are stating they are located in the US. Our ATS software is now able to provide information on what location you are applying from. So my question is why do so many Indian candidates say they’re located in the US but are actually still in India applying from their home country.? I’m not talking about those hiding behind VPNs- just be aware we can now tell when you’re applying from India. (Recruiter)
