A bit about why I made this.

I studied music performance at university. Guitar was my degree… Then life happened and I basically didn't pick up the instrument for ten years. When I finally came back to it, I went looking for a shortcut to dial in the tones I loved, and found a handful of apps that promised to match tone. Problem was, they weren't very accurate, and a couple felt like they were built to charge you as much as possible for the privilege!

In the decade I'd stopped playing, I'd been working as a software developer, so I figured I actually know both sides of this. Let me build the tone-matcher I wished existed: one that's genuinely accurate, treats bass as a first-class citizen instead of an afterthought, and doesn't try to rip players off…

That's ToneCrafter. You put in your exact gear (guitar or bass, amp, pedals) and tell it the tone or song you're chasing. It gives you knob settings, pickup choice, and pedal suggestions adapted to your rig, not a generic preset for someone else's setup. If it's not quite right, you tell it in plain words like "more bite" or "less low end", and it re-tunes. There's a free tier so you can see if it's any good before paying a penny.

tonecrafter.app, built by a guitarist, for guitarists and bassists. Happy to answer anything about how it works, or what gear it gets wrong so I can fix it!

I built ToneCrafter - Tell it your gear, it gives you the settings to match any tone!
