My headcanon on how could a decent person like Herbert give origin to a company as cruel and classist as T-corp.

Herbert used to be like your typical tech-bro: Always go forward, never hesitate, never slow down, regulations, caution, doubt, guilt, empathy and instrospection are for cowards and get on the way of progress, but then while working on an invention an accident occurred: for a few brief seconds his mind accelerated to thousands of times its regular speed, while his body remained at the same speed, for him those few seconds were like several days, left unable to do anything but think, after going through quite a few ideas for inventions, he started to reflect, thinking about how his inventions affected others, for the first time in his life he felt guilt, once Herbert snapped out of it he was a changed man, Herbert tried to change T-corp, but the wing developed a life of its own, yes while as an individual he had greater leverage over anyone else, but even the little he could do was like fighting a deluge with a bucket, specially with his board of directors who collectivelly now owned more T-corp shares than him.

Thats why Herbert wants to stop tim, if he can get others to stop and think, like he did, maybe things will work out in the end.
