Looking back through the descriptions on certain relics in StS1, you can notice multiple names popping up with quotes from multiple of them. (I also noticed Smooth Stone mentions the Ancients) Some names are Zoroth, Kublai the Great, Ranwid, the Architect (both of which are already in StS2), and **Nilry**, the “infamous game master” with a codex named after himself. Every other character has multiple relics that mention them, but Nilry only has one, his own codex.

Seeing as other people have been making their own Ancients, with some people even theorizing the Watcher will return as an Ancient in a future update, I wondered if other characters referenced in the first game could return in this sequel, like Ranwid in his own event. Because I’m hyperfixated and have time to spare, I designed 8 original relics (as well as the Codex and its partnering relics) the Game Master might bestow upon you if you encounter him in the third act, merely going off of the title.

Similar to the other Act 3 Ancients, there wouldn’t be select pools for the original 8 relics, while pool 1 would contain the three books.

**Nilry’s Codex**

At the end of your turn, you may choose one of three cards to shuffle into your draw pile.

**Enchiridion**

At the start of combat, add a power with Swift 1 to your hand. It costs 0 that turn.

Note: I slightly buffed Enchiridion since powers have become more niche in this game and have increased the chances you could get a useless power. Now it is always half a bag of prep that could give you something busted, worthy of being an Ancient relic.

**Necronomicon**

The first attack you play each turn that costs 2 or more is played twice. Add a special curse to your deck. (Necronomicurse)

Note: In the original game the problem was wasting hp and getting this with no high cost attacks in your deck. In this game higher cost attacks are more common, but I’d probably make it not appear with no 2+ cost attacks in your deck.

Now for the other original relics I came up with themed around the title “Game Master”.

**Loaded Die**

Powers have a 50% to replay themselves.

Note: I don’t care if it’s rng, it fits the theme of dice and silver spoon used to exist.

**Wind-up toy**

Gain 7 vigor every three attacks you play.

**Card Sleeve**

Enchant one skill with Sleeved.

Sleeved: Enchantment

This card gains Replay 3 and Exhaust.

**Weighted Dart**

If you end your turn with 6 or less block and at least 4 cards in hand, your attacks deal triple damage the next turn.

Note: would go hard on ironclad or defect.

**Lucky Trinket**

Start each combat out with 1 intangible and 1 blur.

Note: Some enemies don’t hit all that hard or at all on turn 1 so intangible would be wasted or even not worth it, especially with anchor. I think adding blur as a buff balances that out and helps your defense greatly.

**Dominoes**

All enemies lose 3 strength at the start of combat.

Note: Would only really be useful for Queen, but would definitely help a ton with all the multi hit enemies in act 3. Still probably the second weakest relic here.

**Oak Flute**

Whenever you remove a card from your deck, gain 8 max hp. Add 3 Guilty to your deck.

Note: Looming fruit exists, which is why there is a much higher ceiling here with the downside of getting three curses, even though they will eventually reward you with 24 max hp. Hitting just one shop raised it to 32, just one higher than looming fruit, and removing two cards will raise that to 40. Typically you are not removing too many cards in Act 3, so I’d say it’s somewhat balanced. It would get out of control if you had Forbidden Grimoire though.

**Gyroscope**

Gain energy at the start of your turn. You can no longer skip card rewards.

Note: I thought of this idea a while back and recently found someone suggesting the same thing as a Vakuu relic instead. It could be reworked, and is probably the weakest out of everything.

Sorry for the long post, I just love coming up with ideas for this game and think these relics would be cool, even if Nilry is never added or mentioned again (which will most likely be the reality).

Ideas for a new Act 3 Ancient who might be familiar: Nilry the Gamemaster
