How are we supposed to secure housing when FASFA/OBBBA is still up in the air?

General

According to my school, they are “currently awaiting final federal regulations for the 2026–2027 academic year. The federal government is expected to provide the necessary regulatory guidance and data packets on May 31, 2026.” I’ve seen many other schools are giving out the same answer.”

This is the first time I’ll be using student loans for rent. How am I supposed to apply for apartments when my “income” (financial aid reward) still isn’t published? I can submit my current check stubs, but what’s the point of that when I won’t be working in law school?

I’m moving to a competitive rental market, and I need to start applying asap for an August 1st move in date. What do they expect us to do? I’m slowly watching all the apartments that I can afford have no vacancies.
