I feel like I owe people whenever I accept help or inclusion, even in small things

Need Support

I often feel unhappy because I can’t afford to go to concerts or join social events I actually want to experience. But the issue goes beyond money. When I talk to friends who are in a better financial or social position, I actively avoid mentioning these things. The reason is that I’m afraid they might offer help or include me, and I would immediately feel like I owe them something in return. Because of that, I even stop myself from expressing what I want, just to avoid the possibility of feeling indebted later. I don’t understand why I have this reaction and I want to change it.
