Salems Lot 1979

What an absolutely incredible film. It’s not often I pick up a vampire flick, but every time I do I’m impressed. Salems Lot is just exceptional. The overall vibe and score to go with it was really creepy and for the time I think it really displayed some dam good camera shots and sequences. Although you could argue some of the jump-scare techniques were dated, the build up of unease and panic was a great compensation.

My biggest takeaway from it was the window scenes ( I’ll definitely be closing my blinds tonight 😂) so simple yet so effective and I think it’s what this film really gets right.

I think the cast is really good and to my surprise David Soul is a dam good cast for horror and cool character overall.

I fortunately picked this title up on 4k collectors so I’ve got a nice chunky box with a lovely book inside to read and the option of the episodes, as I had watched the theatrical cut.

Are there any other great Vampire shows/films from the 70s early 80s that match this vibe?

I gently slap myself on the head as Vampires are the theme I choose the least and it’s such a cool genre.

Thanks for reading. What did you think of Salems Lot?
