Play games from my PC through a wired connection to theater/link mode on my Quest 3

Issue

Hi, I have been looking everywhere for a solution to this. I am attempting to simply use my headset as a virtual monitor for my laptop when traveling to play games on a "big" display, even if it is an illusion. No overlays, no headtracking, no inputs, just show me what I have displaying on my laptop in a virtual screen I can change the size of. I have a main PC with a beautiful OLED I used 99% of the time, but I also have a laptop for traveling with decent specs as well (i9+4070) which I would like to pair with my headset as a permanent travel companion. I am directly transferring the display using a thunderbolt 4 port and cable, absolutely do not want to stream over wi-fi.

The main issues I am running into right now are:

  1. The default Meta Quest 3 Link room is awful. Blinding white background, curves the virtual display after increasing it to a certain size which doesn't appear to be optional, and even if it isn't bugging out due to my Xbox controller it randomly catches my hands while holding the controller and moves the mouse on the computer throwing everything off.

  2. When pairing an Xbox controller through bluetooth to my laptop it triggers some feature in the headset to constantly move the mouse to where I am looking on the virtual display making the game fight between my controller and mouse moving. From what I can gather this stems from some very old code still engrained in the Meta Quest OS that prioritizes using an Xbox controller instead of your Quest controllers as the first one didn't come with any native controllers or something like that. I don't understand how it's even recognizing the controller in the first place since it's connected to my laptop and not the headset but it is definitely the controller causing it. Does not happen if I don't have the controller on.

If anybody has any tips or help relating to either of these problems please let me know. I almost paid the $25 for the 3rd party virtual desktop application until I realized it is designed from the ground up purely around wireless streaming.

I essentially want to use my Meta Quest exactly how ASUS's new OLED sunglasses work where they merely stream a display output from one device to the lenses and if there is some app out there that does that I will pay for it, I just want it to work. I am sorry for sounding so passive aggressive, I love this headset and understand this isn't really the intended use-case. I just can't understand how something so simple is such a challenge even for someone who no lifes being in front of any and every screen in existence.
